10 Weeks

How far along? 10 weeks!  Wow, I can't believe how quickly time has gone!
Maternity clothes? No, just maxi dresses, yoga pants, and a rubber band instead of buttoning my pants!

Sleep:  Too much...and at the same time, not enough
Best moment this week:  Oh, lots.  Telling people, my birthday, quality time with Jacob, babysitting little Cayden...it's been a nice week

Miss Anything? Not crying all the time!! Baptism at church? Tears.  Education commercial?  Tears.  Seeing a parent hug their child? Mega tears.  It's super embarrassing!  I can't pull it together!
Movement: Not yet...I really want to though!!
Food cravings: Not so much

Anything making you queasy or sick: I felt really sick this week smelling some chicken Jacob was cooking!  That's the first time that food has made me sick, and I promise it wasn't his cooking skills!
Have you started to show yet: Yes!  It feels weird to say because my brain keeps trying to tell me I'm just getting chubby, but it's definitely hard and last time I checked, fat doesn't do that :)

Gender Prediction: Oh who knows...boy I guess.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, except when I'm crying haha
Looking forward to: Feeling my baby move!!

9 Weeks

How far along? 9 weeks
Maternity clothes? No, but I DID have to loop a rubberband through the button hole of my work pants this week. Baby J is really starting to spread out in there...
Sleep:  About 12 hours a night, subtracting time to get up and go to the bathroom about twice a night.
Best moment(s) this week: Oh so many...let me hit a few of the highlights:

  •  FINALLY telling my friend Christina and LITERALLY being tackled by her because she was so excited (did I mention that she's 6 months pregnant??)
Future BFF's and mommies
  •   This actual conversation that I had with a friend, telling her I was pregnant (no names have been used to protect the  innocent  easily distracted  slow-to-react)

Me:  Yeah, I've just been thinking about that a lot because......I'm pregnant.
Friend:  Yeah, totally.
(5 awkward seconds...10 awkward seconds...me: *panicking* did she not hear me??...15 awkward seconds)
Me:  Um...I'm having a...
Friend:  OHMYGOSHWAITWHATDIDYOUJUSTSAYOHMYGOSHI'MSOEXCITEDTHAT'SSOAMAZINGSDSLIGNOIGNDOIDBFKLFNSLDFKNOIGMDLFKNDFGLDKJGNOIFGDFLKNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (more unintelligible phone yelling for about 3 minutes)

I was seriously crying I was laughing so hard. Oh fine, I'll at least give you a clue as to who she is...she's a Chi O.  There, now if you don't know who it is by now, don't worry about it.  You don't know her.
  • Alright, this next story requires some background...I'll try to sum it up.  When I started working at Rogers my principal had just had a baby so I gave her a sweater knitted by Nana (a VERY special gift, for anyone in the know) wrapped up in a box with a big silk ribbon.  Three years later...I tell my principal last week that I am 1) resigning after this year because 2) I'm pregnant.  Well, at the beginning of this week she calls me in her office and hands me a box with a big silk ribbon around it and inside is...you guessed it.  The Nana sweater.  She told me that she loved using it, but wanted to return it to me, especially since I was leaving, pregnant, and since Nana passed away last year.  Wow.  Talk about hitting the boss jackpot.  It blows my mind how much she remembered, even down to how I wrapped the box.  Winner.
Miss Anything? As ridiculous as it sounds...raw pepperoni.  Well, not raw but that pre-packaged kind.  Apparently cold deli meats sometimes carry listeria, so you're not supposed to have them.  There's only the smallest chance, but it's still on the no-no list.  Anyway, I tried to sneak one this week and Jacob caught me and gave me the saddest look and said, "please don't kill my baby." I felt so bad that I spit it out, but I still really want to eat one...
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES!  I've eaten them like 3 different times this week. Yummmmyyy

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not as much this week.  I'm glad because I was afraid it was really going to kick into full gear after last week's pukecapades.
Have you started to show yet: I definitely have a tummy but right now it kind of just looks like I'm getting chubby.  It's one of those things where I can tell it's the baby because I know my own body, but other people might not really be able to tell.

Gender Prediction: I'm switching things up this week and going with girl.  Jacob and I looked up some old wives' tales about baby gender and one of them said if the baby's heartbeat was faster, it's a girl.  Based on the heartrate we got at our doctor's appointment, it definitely fits into the girl range!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, but with a lot of tears!  Pregnancy hormones + The Office series finale + Target college scholarship commercials = total cryfest.
Looking forward to: My chiropractor appointment next week.  I've been falling asleep so early that I haven't been doing my back exercises and am suuuper uncomfortable.  Early bedtime + back pain?  Geez, you'd think I was turning 75 this week instead of 25...

8 Weeks

This week was super fun.  We had our first official appointment with our doctor this week.  They did a sonogram where we got to see our little lima bean and could even see the fluttering of his/her heart.  It was amazing!  I cried, but honestly what DOESN'T make me cry these days.  The nurse practitioner did some measurements and determined that the baby was 7 weeks and 2 days old...which matched EXACTLY with the timing I had figured out using NFP (which secretly gave me just a liiiiittle bit of satisfaction because the nurse practitioner got a bit saucy with us when we told her we used NFP.  Aren't I entitled to be just a little bit smug that the due date I calculated was more exact than hers? I think so :) )  We also started to tell a couple more people this week that we are expecting, which was SO great!  It feels good to spread the word a little bit.

Forgive my wrinkly shirt...

Say hello to Baby J!!!

How far along? 8 weeks!  2/3 done with my first trimester! woo woo!
Maternity clothes? Rockin' the yoga pants quite a bit, but let's be honest...that's nothing new.

Sleep:  Frequent, but not very deeply :-/
Best moment this week: Seeing Baby J's heart beating on the sonogram!!

Miss Anything? A glass of wine sounds excellent...I guess it'll be a few more months before that's possible
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: Anything fresh! Never thought I'd see the day when a bunch of veggies would sound better than a Chick-fil-a sandwich but what can ya do?  I guess as far as cravings go, I'm pretty thankful I'm craving healthy!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing specific that triggers it, but I have been majorly sick the past few days. Gross
Have you started to show yet: There's this little bump that will not go away no matter how hard I suck in...it's pretty firm too so I'm thinking it's due to baby and not burrito...

Gender Prediction: Still feel like it's a boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In (Jacob is praying it never pops out haha)
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, although I pretty much cry at the drop of a hat these days.  That Target commercial where the kids get accepted to college?? Brutal!
Looking forward to: Having all of our close family and friends know!

7 Weeks

How far along? My little Cubs fan is 7 weeks
Maternity clothes? Not yet

Sleep:  I've been sleeping ok...crazy dreams have been waking me up almost every night though, featuring everyone from Hugh Jackman to randoms from high school. Weird
Best moment this week: Date night with Jacob to celebrate our engagement anniversary.  3 years ago he proposed, and now look where we are! :)

Miss Anything? Ya know, this week I didn't really feel like I was missing anything!
Movement: No
Food cravings: Veggies and chocolate! (not at the same time) OH! And I bought a sandwich maker like my mom had when we were growing up because I was reeeally wanting one of those haha...best $10 I ever spent.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No, but I've been getting EXTRA car sick.  Just sitting in the passenger seat makes me start to feel nauseous...but this is possibly psychological haha
Have you started to show yet: Maybe but...I don't think so

Gender Prediction: I can't explain it but I really feel like it's a boy!  This pregnancy has just been far too easy...
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy aaand sometimes really mad :)
Looking forward to: Our first appointment!! I'm super excited to meet our doctor and hear the baby's heartbeat and all that jazz.  Plus I have a HUGE list of questions I want to ask her!

6 Weeks

How far along? 6 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 3 pounds! Probably because I have about a week's worth of meals backed up inside of me (let's hope so anyway)
Maternity clothes? Nope

Sleep:  Sleeping great!
Best moment this week: Our nice, long weekend up in Austin!  We went up to visit Christina & Tyler (who are pregnant) and ended up going to their neighbor's gender reveal party...it was fun to see baby stuff going on all around me, even though we're not "publicly" pregnant yet.

Miss Anything? Margaritas and sushi
Movement: Nope
Food cravings: Fruit!  I eat about 3 clementines a day and my kids keep asking me "Miss, what's up with you and blueberries??"
Anything making you queasy or sick: Ugh.  Up until this morning, my answer would've been no.  Then this morning the kitchen smelled like garbage, the faculty room smelled like poop, the halls smelled like stinky middle schoolers, and I ran back to my classroom to puke in my trash can.  Lovely.  By the way, did I mention that I was the ONLY one who could smell these nasty smells? Joy.
Have you started to show yet: I don't think so...it's hard to tell because I'm so bloated!! 6 weeks is way too early though, right??
Gender Prediction: Still feeling like it's a boy
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!
Looking forward to: Being able to announce that we're pregnant!  Stacy and Andrew announced this week and I'm so jealous! I'm also looking forward to having a definite bump, instead of this panza I have now
